Reports and publications
Bupa carries out a range of public policy research projects, some of which are conducted in partnership with external organisations. See below for the current list of publicly available reports from these projects.
Bupa has launched a new report which looks at how employers, government and providers of workplace health services can better support the health of UK workers. Healthy Work: Evidence into Action shows how improved workplace health can make a significant contribution to the economy, to public finances and to reducing levels of illness and disease in the UK.
It is the final report of Bupa’s health at work project, which has been carried out in partnership with The Work Foundation, C3 Collaborating for Health (working with The Oxford Health Alliance) and RAND Europe. The first report of the project, called Healthy Work: Challenges and Opportunities to 2030, looked at how trends in the demography and economy of the UK and patterns of disease will affect the health of the workforce over the next 20 years and is available towards the bottom of this page.
This document describes some of the partnerships and activities that Bupa Care Services have supported. The work has a number of themes including profiling the care home population, lobbying on the need for proper funding, developing aspects of healthcare, and gaining a greater understanding of needs of individuals nearing the end of life.
Many of the projects address issues that are under-researched - and we hope that some will enable more detailed research to be undertaken - while others will translate into improved care.
But they all have common aims: to ensure Bupa’s care and support takes advantage of best practice; to provide understanding of what the older people we serve need; and to provide ever more stimulating environments for them.
This report is written by economic consultancies NERA and Frontier for Bupa, and launched in 2006 by independent think tank The Social Market Foundation.
The report looks at the financial pressures facing the NHS and warns of a funding gap from 2008 which if unchecked could rise by £11bn by 2015. The report also examines a number of possible solutions.
Bupa has launched a new report analysing the future opportunities and challenges for workplace health.
'Healthy Work' sets out how trends in the demography and economy of the UK, and the changing nature of work and the evolution of disease, will affect the health of the workforce over the next 20 years.
The report is part of an 18-month project that Bupa is leading, in partnership with The Work Foundation, RAND Europe and The Oxford Health Alliance, to identify ways to improve the effectiveness of workplace health in the UK.
