Bupa Care Services has been accredited as an Investor in People for the fourth time since 2000.
The Investors in People Award helps organisations to develop their employees, improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management. As a national standard for good business practice in the UK, it also provides external recognition to demonstrate how people focused a business is, which in return attracts and retains employees.
Bupa Care Services is the largest healthcare organisation to hold the Investor in People status. The accreditation covers all areas of Bupa Care Services UK, including its 302 care homes, regional offices, head office in Leeds, Yorkshire, Surgichem: a medication administration system designed to assist care home staff with the administration of patient’s/resident’s medicines and Goldsborough Estates, a range of independent living units.
Mark Ellerby, managing director of Bupa Care Services said: “Our ability to provide a high standard of quality care to our care home residents is built on the skills of our employees, who are our greatest asset. We are proud to achieve the Investors in People award for a fourth time.
This award provides clear and independent evidence that we are committed to attracting, supporting, recognising, developing and engaging with our staff. We look forward to building on this success.”
The assessment consisted of a team of 30 internal reviewers plus an external managing assessor, who interviewed more than 800 people, from nurses to careers and office staff, on a range of issues.
Sylvia Zachariah Bupa’s managing assessor from Investors in People standard said: “Bupa people are great at what they do. Whether it is planning, testing, piloting, involving work groups or listening to feedback, Bupa puts the resources behind its peoples’ initiatives to make them happen. We are proud to award them with the Investors in People for a further three years.”
