General programme Hide

The general programme consists of a month-long induction into the business followed by three placements over 18 months.

In a diverse global business of 50,000 employees the opportunities and possible combinations are numerous. Placements might be in any one of our business units and could be anywhere in the UK or in our overseas businesses. You will be encouraged to build up a wide range of experience and we will work with you to find the roles that are the best fit for you and the business.

For example you might spend:

  • five months as a member of our health information team in our head office in London
  • six months in front-line operational management of a health assessment centre in Manchester
  • six months in a project management role in Bupa Australia based in Sydney

At the end of the programme, you and your colleagues will move into a variety of roles in different business units and functions. Recently, graduates have moved from the programme into project management, HR consultancy, business analyst roles, operational management and group strategy.

The general programme is flexible, allowing you to gain a breadth of experience while shaping a career that fits your interests and aspirations. The opportunities are infinite; from strategy or HR, to project and operational management.
Finance programme Hide

The finance programme consists of a month-long induction into the business, followed by up to three placements over two years.

As you build your financial experience and skills you will gain an invaluable insight into different areas of this diverse business. You will experience a variety of responsibilities including:

  • commercial analysis of business performance
  • compiling management accounts
  • planning and financial strategy
  • operational control
The finance programme is a unique opportunity to gain and apply financial experience while playing a vital part in Bupa's success. You will receive full sponsorship of your choice of accountancy qualification, either CIMA or ACCA.
Information Systems (IS) programme Hide

The IS programme consists of a month-long induction into the business, followed by up to five placements over two years in the key areas of the IS function.

During each placement you will have a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • implementation of infrastructure and application based technologies
  • technical support
  • producing detailed design documents
  • planning and leading projects following project methodology
  • analysing, planning and managing a functional testing project
  • suggesting recommendations/enhancements to current ways of working
  • management and utilisation of offshore resources and third party suppliers
  • working to System Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) guidelines

Along with practical experience, you will build up an extensive network of contacts and be encouraged to attain technical professional qualifications along the way, allowing you to move into a permanent role at the end of the programme.

The IS programme allows you to work with technical experts on real life projects and solutions, experiencing all key areas of IS, including design, testing and web applications.
Marketing programme Hide

The marketing programme consists of a month-long induction into the business followed by three diverse placements over eighteen months.

You will gain exposure to all the key areas of our marketing function including:

  • customer insight
  • external proposition and brand
  • web
  • corporate social responsibility
  • internal communications

Over the course of the programme you will undertake placements in one group function, one international business unit and one UK business unit building up a wide range of experience and skills.

The marketing programme provides an exciting opportunity to build and apply a broad range of marketing capabilities in this growing global healthcare business, moving between the diverse teams that make up our marketing function.

You will need to:

  • be flexible - willing to move location up to three times during the course of the programme
  • have obtained or expect to obtain, a minimum 2:1 degree (2:2 IS programme) or equivalent and a strong academic record leading up to this
  • demonstrate excellent verbal and numerical reasoning
  • show a good match with the required skills and competencies
